Mr. Archibald was a man of talent, of an amiable disposition and considered a good classical scholar, but was careless in his manners and extremely negligent in his dress and general appearance. Some domestic afflictions, fancied or real, preyed upon his spirits, and were the occasion of indulgence, to an unwarrantable degree, in intoxicating drinks. Mr. Archibald never returned to the communion of his church nor retracted the errors for which he was deposed.
